Call for awards for small and start-up companies that successfully use intellectual property 2024-02-22
The WIPO Global Awards program stems from WIPO's mission to foster innovation and creativity around the world and build an inclusive intellectual property ecosystem. The awards are designed to promote the commercialization of intellectual property assets by showcasing award-winning inventors, creators and entrepreneurs who use intellectual property to achieve their business goals, generate income, create jobs, solve local and global challenges, and support community and national development. This year, the jury will also consider the company's contribution to the goals of sustainable development.
An independent jury of renowned experts will select up to seven winners. The public announcement of the winners will take place at an awards ceremony during the WIPO General Assembly in July 2024 at WIPO Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
In addition to the prestigious award and international promotion, the winners will also receive a tailored mentoring program to strengthen the use of their intellectual property rights, including fundraising, partnership opportunities and advertising support.
Last year, out of 548 registered companies from all over the world, the Slovenian company Aerosol d.o.o., which develops top-quality instruments and methods for measuring air quality, protected by patents and trademarks, which helped them to become a leader in this global niche, received the award too.
Company director Mateja Forštnarič said on receiving the award last year: "With the award, our company gained recognition, visibility and added value. It increases the reputation and visibility of our brand and our mission, which is to raise awareness of the negative impact of black carbon and other carbon aerosols on the climate and human health. In addition, this award is a great incentive and motivation for us to continue doing great things, we are very proud."
Until March 31, 2024, interested small or start-up companies from all over the world, operating in any of the economic sectors and using at least one of the intellectual property rights (copyright and related rights, trademarks, designs, patents, geographical indications or other), can apply.
