A Slovenian company received the prestigious DesignEuropa award 2023-10-06
The awards are presented in three categories: for lifetime achievement, in the industry category and in the small and emerging business category. This year, the committee selected eight finalists from Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Austria, Hungary, Estonia and Poland out of 700 applications from 43 countries.
At this year's award, which was held on 5th September in Berlin, the Slovenian company Remigo achieved great success with its RemigoOne electric outboard motor by winning the category of small and emerging companies.
It is the world's first fully integrated lightweight 1000W electric outboard that is also designed as a rudder. Eliminates all the weak points of comparable gasoline and electric outboards (weight, cable corrosion, handling, oil leakage, reliability, durability). It is designed in accordance with the latest technological developments, the wishes of sailors, respect for the environment and sustainable aspects. The motor weighs only 12 kilograms, is suitable for propelling vessels weighing up to 1.5 tons and can be charged using solar cells.
RemigoOne has already won four design awards and many hearts of experienced sailors and enthusiasts around the world.
The Remigo company has been granted a Slovenian patent, five patents with reduced duration in Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan and China, a registered trademark with the Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Slovenia, and a trademark and a Community design with the EUIPO.

The director of Remigo company, Marko Vrtovec, when asked what is important in the enforcement of intellectual property rights, answered that the protection of intellectual property has many advantages. Thanks to the granted patents, models and trademarks, they have greater freedom of action and security, which enables them to protect their own work in development and design, thereby achieving a higher value of the company and being more attractive to investors. When valuing companies, the latter consistently take into account whether the company has been granted intellectual property rights.
