On April 23, 2025, WIPO will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) with a conference held at WIPO's Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
As the steward of the UDRP, WIPO’s Arbitration and Mediation Center will bring together key Internet stakeholders, including brand owners, trademark practitioners, registrars, academics, and domain industry experts, to reflect on the evolution and impact of the UDRP over the past 25 years.
The conference will offer a retrospective on UDRP jurisprudential trends, examine future developments with the planned ICANN review, and explore emerging topics such as ADR systems for blockchain domains, the introduction of new gTLDs, and the evolving role of AI in DNS enforcement and industry practices.
The event is open to the public and will also be accessible online for remote participants.
